Back in May last year, Xiaomi announced 200-watt wired and 120-watt wireless charging. It seems that these plans are gaining real momentum.
While we don't know anything new about the 120-watt wireless charging yet, that doesn't apply to the 200-watt wired HyperCharge technology. The reason is that Xiaomi's 200-watt charger has received approval from of the Chinese Office 3C.
The adapter appeared in the 3C certification
New power adapter with model number MDY-13-EU has received certification from the Chinese regulatory authority 3C. The certification reveals that the new Xiaomi charger supports maximum charging speeds 20V / 10A, which after conversion is the performance at the level 200 W. In addition, it is also backward compatible with 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 11V/6A and 17V/10A charging.
This information suggests that we might see a smartphone that supports such a speed in the coming months. There is also talk that the first smartphone could be a model Xiaomi MIX 5, which should be presented in the second half of this year.
What can it all do?
The 200-watt HyperCharge technology from Xiaomi charges the smartphone for less than 10 minutes. This is what Xiaomi demonstrated earlier this year as a smartphone solution Xiaomi mi 10 ultra, which contains a 4 mAh battery.
A 200-watt charger can charge a smartphone with a 4 mAh battery at 50% capacities in 3 minutes and a full charge takes another 5 minutes, so we get to 8 minutes of charging.
Xiaomi currently mostly offers 120-watt wired and 50-watt wireless charging. The smartphone can be charged wirelessly in just 17 minutes.
An important aspect will be how fast charging will affect the device's battery itself, and whether it will damage it or gradually degrade it, but only real tests will show that.
However, Xiaomi will not be the first
iQOO is all set to have the world's first smartphone with 200-watt charging support. iQOO recently confirmed that the upcoming iQOO 10 smartphone will support 120-watt fast charging, while the iQOO 10 Pro model will come with 200-watt fast charging technology. The show will go on already on July 19.
How would you like to charge at such a blazing speed? Don't you think it's excessive and you're not afraid of the impact on the battery itself? Let us know in the comments below the article.
