Xiaomi at the December event for the upcoming electric car Xiaomi SU7 revealed the technologies that will be used in the production of the car. The Chinese giant wants to become a leader in many areas, recently also in the field of electromobility.
After very long 1003 days of continuous development and a minute 1,5 billion dollars in R&D Xiaomi reveals to us what can be expected from their first electric vehicle.
Electric motors with amazing parameters
Let's start with the electric motor itself. Xiaomi it was no secret at the presentation that he wanted to be better than Tesla himself. He calls his developed engine HyperEngine and a variant with a label V6s reaches up to 21 rpm. Two engines were developed, which are already in the process of mass production.
- HyperEngine V6 – 299 hp, 220 kW, 400 Nm, 400 V
- HyperEngine V6s – 374 hp, 275 kW, 500 Nm, 800 V, 6,78 kW / kg
For comparison, let's mention the performance of engines in competitive sports electric cars.
- Tesla Model S plaid – 20 rpm, 000 Nm, 480 kW, 253 kW / kg
- Porsche Taycan Turbo – 16 rpm, 000 Nm, 610 kW, 370 kW / kg
Line V6 was a very pleasant surprise, but then the company revealed HyperEngine V8s with a staggering number of revolutions at the level of up to 27 rpm.
- HyperEngine V8s – 578 hp, 425 kW, 635 Nm, 10,14 kw / kg efficiency 98,11%
In addition, Xiaomi is still working on the most powerful version of the engine ever HyperEngine made of carbon with an incredible number of revolutions of 35 rpm, which is still being tested and it is not known when it could go into production.
Advanced traction battery
An essential part of an electric car is the traction battery. The one that will be used by the vehicle from Xiaomi, will have voltage 871 V. The battery is designed so that it does not take up too much space and the cabin of the electric car remains spacious. Xiaomi calls this technology to reduce the space occupied by the battery CTB.
The capacity of the battery is 150 kW with potential range 1200 km. If you know a little about electric cars, then you know that achieving something like this in an electric car intended for the mass market is currently unthinkable, especially from the point of view of affordability and other factors affecting the resulting range. Xiaomi claims that the capacity 150 kW can be achieved thanks to the chemical cells used, but the price is too high.
Instead, capacity is more realistic 132 kW with a stated range of approx 1000 km, which is also extremely optimistic. From the point of view of safety, the manufacturer adopts high demands on the safety of the accumulator, allegedly the highest on the market. Engineers have made sure that no ignition or other dangerous situations occur if the battery cells are immersed in water at the stage of full charge.
The cells are protected against water penetration 17-layer protective system. The cooling surface has contents 7,8m2, which according to the manufacturer is up to four times larger area compared to the average on the market. Lithium batteries are known to have performance issues when cold.
Whether it's batteries in a phone, car or other electronic device, when their temperature is below 0 °C, the resulting durability is visibly worse. Xiaomi made sure that heat transfer was efficient and thus allowed the battery to function without significant problems.
According to the manufacturer, the range of their electric car in cold weather will be among the best on the market. While the competition still manages temperatures optimally do -15 ° C, Xiaomi SU7 should have no problems to -20 °C.
As far as charging is concerned, Xiaomi has developed an extremely fast one 800V HyperCharge charging, thanks to which only for 5 minutes of charging the car reaches a range of 220 km. It reaches a range of 510 km in just 15 minutes of charging.

Radars, intelligent systems and the HyperOS ecosystem
The implementation of advanced radar systems for the parking assistant and for the assistants used while driving will be a matter of course. The car will have a range of recognition of surroundings up to 250 meters.
Deployment HyperOS it also means the arrival of a new ecosystem of devices from this company's workshop. Xiaomi SU7 he is also very nice to communicate with Xiaomi smartphone and its screen will contain an already familiar graphic interface.
HyperOS will enable the smartphone to communicate with the electric car, and after getting into the car, the user will have their favorite environment with their favorite applications at their disposal. The phone will automatically connect to the car via the Wi-Fi network.
The display with infotainment is modular and it will be possible to connect, for example, hardware buttons or a keyboard under it.
Smart Cabin and connectivity
When driving, Xiaomi also emphasizes exemplary connectivity, resulting in the Smart Cabin. It is located in the vehicle 16,1″ touch 3K display (16:10) with software HyperOS it is directly connected to your Xiaomi smartphone, and interacting with notifications from your smartphone or controlling applications is a matter of course. The controls are very similar to those you know from a smartphone.
A chip will take care of quick reactions on the dashboard Snapdragon 8295 od Qualcomm. A stylish design accessory is also a large Heads-Up display, a rotating on-board computer that sets itself after starting, as well as the possibility of connecting Xiaomi tablets with HyperOS to the back seats, which will also receive controls for the vehicle itself.
Autonomous driving and navigation in road traffic
Xiaomi is also developing autonomous driving technology with elements of lane recognition, self-parking with an accuracy of 0,05 m and avoiding dangerous objects. The algorithm can also detect snow and rain in challenging weather conditions, while not stopping the vehicle thinking that rain spray from a truck in traffic is an obstacle.
With formidable algorithmic prowess and a powerful computing platform, we are poised for success. Confident that by 2024, we'll achieve our goal of leading the pack in smart driving.#XiaomiEVTechnologyLaunch pic.twitter.com/AYNCCiu8hm

It is specifically about the so-called "BEV" technology, which Xiaomi monitors 360° surroundings around the vehicle. This technology also records objects with a height of 1 meter, such as temporary traffic signs, traffic lights or ramps with a thickness of 0,1 m.
However, it is also important for the vehicle to know the road sections on which it drives. The Chinese manufacturer is working on scanning the largest cities in China, but it is very difficult to collect scans of all cities. Vehicle navigation can recognize road work and avoid temporary restrictions.
Production of an electric car on a robotic line
Technológia HyperCasting. What is it about? Xiaomi is expanding its robot lines to 840 m², with three backup systems in case of failure and a total weight of 9100 tons.
The basis of the high-quality processing of the electric car is the high technological standards of production, to which the Chinese manufacturer gives high priority.
The Chinese manufacturer also thought about the strength and integrity of the structure. The frame of the electric car was designed by a team of specialists for optimal rigidity during long-term driving, as well as in an unwanted collision, to ensure exemplary crew safety.
