China's Xiaomi, known for its vast ecosystem of smart devices, officially unveiled its first electric car Xiaomi SU7 in its home country of China on March 28, it finally reached the automotive industry.
Remote car control from the comfort of your smartphone
One of the expected features of the Xiaomi SU7 is its involvement in the entire Xiaomi ecosystem, which starts with the "brain" of the vehicle, i.e. operating system HyperOS. Similar to rival Tesla, Xiaomi also offers its customers an application from day one, thanks to which they will be able to "control" their car to a certain extent directly on the screen of their smartphone.
Application Xiaomi Car, whose launch the manufacturer reported on the Chinese social network Weibo, will allow Xiaomi SU7 owners to seamlessly integrate their smartphones with the new electric car and potentially with future Xiaomi vehicles. So far, the application, similar to the electric car itself, is only available in China.
Key functions of controlling the Xiaomi SU7 via the app include the ability to remotely lock and unlock the vehicle, monitor the battery level, access real-time GPS location data, control lighting systems and even check the vehicle's internal temperature.
In addition, Xiaomi Auto facilitates the practical aspects of electric car ownership - it will enable users reserve charging stations for their SU7 and ensure vehicle safety through remote monitoring.
Xiaomi's entry into the automotive sphere indicates a broader trend of connected smart devices, blurring the lines between traditional consumer electronics and mobility solutions.
An example is also the screens integrated on the back seats, which represent fully functional tablets Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro with a diagonal of 12,4", which, however, were redesigned for the needs of the Xiaomi SU7. Tablets have a magnetic attachment and power supply through three pins on the back. They also contain the HyperOS system with multimedia applications.
