Spoločnosť Xiaomi, it's not just smartphones and tablets. Laptops are no less important part of Xiaomi's portfolio. This time, the manufacturer surprised us with its first device with a unique 2 in 1 design. It has a label Xiaomi Book S, diagonal 12.4 ″, and also supports a detachable keyboard or stylus.
Xiaomi Book S: The first model with a 2 in 1 design
We have not seen any new Xiaomi laptop models in the global market for several months. Users could only choose to import Chinese models, with Windows modifications. Now, however, this situation is changing, not least with the advent of an affordable model RedmiBook 15, but also a new 2 in 1 notebook, marked Xiaomi Book S 12.4 ″.
For the first time, we encounter a 2-in-1 construction. Xiaomi Book S it offers both tablet and laptop mode, with a keyboard attached. The notebook is similar to the popular Surface devices from Microsoft. There is a diagonal screen for tablet features 12.4" and an aspect ratio of 16:10. It is, of course, a 10-point touch screen.
Touch screen, stylus, keyboard and Windows 11 support
The screen has a resolution 2560 x 1600 pixels relatively high brightness level 500 rivets, LCD technology, and there is also support for 100% sRGB color gamut. The finish is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This device is very complex and is suitable for work, play, relaxation, and even reading books.
This 2-in-1 notebook also supports the Xiaomi stylus. This is specifically about Smart Pad Pen, which you may know as original accessories to the Xiaomi Pad 5 tablet.
In addition, the device is compatible with a detachable keyboard Xiaomi Pad Keyboard (stylus and keyboard will be sold separately). The dimensions of the device itself are 294 x 197 x 8,95 mm, the weight is 720 grams.
But let's move on to performance. Xiaomi Book S 12.4 ″ is equipped with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen2 (eight Kryo 495 cores) and an Adreno 680 graphics chip. The processor is also equipped with 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM, and the only available configuration will be available with integrated 256 GB storage.
However, it is possible that over time we will see a more affordable version with 128 GB of storage, or, conversely, the premium version with a capacity of 512 GB.
In terms of connectivity, technology is available Bluetooth 5.1 a Wi-Fi 5. It will please the 3,5 mm audio connector for connecting wired headphones, USB 3.2 port, but also the rear 13 MPx camera, which you can use, for example, to scan documents. The front 5 MPx camera then also supports face recognition.
The operating system is full-fledged Windows 11, ie also with support for emulators, Windows applications or remote desktop. The battery has a capacity of 4920 mAh (38,08 Wh), and the package also includes a fast 65 W charger with a local European mains plug (220 V / 50 Hz).
Sales price and availability of a new 2 in 1 laptop
notebook Xiaomi Book S 12.4 ″ is currently available on the manufacturer's Spanish website. The official selling price should be at the level of 699 €. However, the manufacturer has also prepared a special launch "Early Bird" event, which begins on Thursday, June 30, 2022, and will last 48 hours. The introductory price will be reduced by one hundred euros, per value 599 €. The stylus and keyboard will be sold separately.
