Recently introduced news Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro a My 11 Ultra have completely new sensors, on the development of which the company collaborated with the South Korean Samsung. The main lens is additionally equipped with the Xiaomi Night Owl algorithm for even better night shots.
Xiaomi Night Owl
At the big March event, Xiaomi presented advanced processing of a picture taken in complete darkness. She compared these results with a Sony camera, and it was clear that the Xiaomi smartphone had a good lead in this.
The software was developed by Xiaomi and its task is to manage the occurrence of noise, stabilization and also color correction in the resulting night photo to indicate the excellent night skills typical of an "owl". At least that's how Xiaomi defined his new algorithm.
Noise, stability and color fidelity
This algorithm is able to capture up to 8 consecutive images with EV0 exposure, based on artificial intelligence and other sub-algorithms to select the best one. With the help of machine learning, he will use this knowledge in the further use of the night mode.
In addition to intelligent noise reduction, which is a major shortcoming of night photography, the algorithm is also capable of more advanced stabilization than other algorithms, as the problem with capturing quality night photography is keeping the smartphone still during its long exposure.
The technology thus simulates the use of a tripod to make the image as sharp as possible. To do this, it uses an optimized neural network and provides its high-quality data.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra vs Huawei Mate 40
Night Owl also delivers more reliable and accurate color rendering based on artificial intelligence. In the photo below you can see how the night shot is managed by Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra against Huawei Mate 40.
It is clear that while Huawei was not able to properly distinguish objects and thus lighten the image, Xiaomi did it, and there was also a minimum of noise or clearly definable edges of objects.
In the next image, we see how Xiaomi coped with the colors and they are much more realistic than on the Mate 40, where they have a yellowish tint.
This feature is currently available for the Mi 11 Pro and Ultra models. However, it is possible that the company will use it in other models, such as the classic Xiaomi Mi 11 version or older models Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.

Will other xiaomi phones get this app? Or is it exclusively for the Mi11 pro
We don't know, we write it at the end of the article.
