Less than 7 months. This is the time during which the model was sold redmi 7. The Redmi brand, with significantly growing popularity, now represents the next generation of its basic smartphone. Welcome today redmi 8which was officially introduced in India.
The Redmi 8 model complements this year's second line of Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro smartphones and joins the cheapest Redmi 8A as a slightly better equipped brother.
Minor design changes
We start with construction and design. In this respect, the 8th generation of the Redmi smartphone has not changed much from its predecessor. It still offers a drop-shaped display, with the manufacturer's logo added to the lower chin.
IPS display has diagonal 6,2 ″ and comes with resolution 1520 x 720 px, HD +. As protection is used durable glass Gorilla Glass 5. Its dimensions are 156.48 x 75.41 x 9.4 mm, almost identical to Redmi 7. The weight increased from 180 to 188 grams because of the larger battery.
The back is a new "mirror design", which looks really premium given the price of the device. The phone will be available in blue, red and black. In addition, the back surface is coated nanocoat P2ithat repels water drops.
Massive battery, processor is disappointing
Definitely the biggest attraction of the new Redmi 8 is massive 5000 mAh battery. Combined with a gentle display and processor, endurance will achieve perfect results. In addition, the phone is also equipped fast 18 W charging. A very nice surprise is USB Type-C connector, which so far was missing in the cheapest Redmi smartphones.
Conversely, a slight disappointment is used processor. The manufacturer has chosen low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 439, which is definitely enough for the target of the smartphone, but this is not an improvement over the Redmi 7 with Snapdragon 632. The processor has eight cores with max. at 1,95 GHz.
Redmi 8 will be sold in two memory versions - 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. There is also microSD card slot up to 512 GB. The advantage is a separate memory card slot, ie it is not combined with two SIM card slots.
Camera from Mi MIX 3
A positive surprise at the cheap Redmi 8 is also used camera. The manufacturer reached for 12 MPx Sony IMX363, which also has a Mi MIX 3, for example. Seconds a second 2 MPx sensor to create a bokeh effect.
The main camera has aperture f / 1.8, pixel size 1.4 μm, Dual-PD focusing and LED flash. In the front section there is an 8 MPx selfie camera with artificial intelligence.
The back side is completed by a classic fingerprint sensor. Other features include face unlocking, wireless FM radio that works without headphones, infrared sensor to control home appliances, 3,5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi or GPS with AGPS and Glonass.
Excellent price
As we already know the classic models of Redmi smartphones, they are intended for undemanding users. This corresponds not only to the equipment, but also to the price. Redmi 8 in the 4 + 64 GB version will be sold in India for 7999 Indian rupees, which is in terms of perfect 102 € / 2650 CZK.
