The expected Xiaomi SU7 electric car will finally hit Chinese roads on March 28. It represents a major milestone on Xiaomi's journey from smartphones to a diverse product ecosystem that now includes electric cars.

After receiving important permits from Chinese regulators last summer, it is more than certain that electric cars will be added to Xiaomi's product portfolio around the world. According to the portal WorldXiaomi at the same time, Xiaomi became only the fourth company in the last six years to receive these permits.
The SU7 model had its premiere on European soil already during the fair Mobile World Congress 2024, where we were we are also present and they brought you a live view of the electric car. As part of the official launch on the Chinese market, the Xiaomi SU7 will arrive in 59 stores in 29 Chinese cities as of March 28, when the first deliveries for pre-orders of the electric car will also begin.
Starting today, Xiaomi will offer demonstration models for test drives, which interested parties can reserve from March 25. While we don't know pricing details yet, expectations are high. This is a top-of-the-line model that is intended to directly compete with Tesla, which signals Xiaomi's intention to compete with established players in the electric car market.
Europe is still in sight
Plans for international expansion are expected in the future, especially within Europe. However, according to the information so far, it may take several years for the SU7 to reach Western markets.
As no firm timetable has been set yet, European fans may be have to wait until 2026-2027, to experience the electric miracle from Xiaomi for themselves. The Chinese manufacturer hopes that in the medium to long term it will be able to conquer the amount of 20 million units.
