New series of flagship smartphones Redmi K40 unlike its predecessors K20 Pro and K30 Pro, it no longer contains a retractable module for the front camera. Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi now he explains why this is so, resp. why the novelty includes a shot for the front camera.
The Redmi K40 series no longer offers a retractable front camera
Previous generations of flagship smartphones from Redmi, with the designation Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro, offered an innovative retractable front camera module. Thanks to this technology, the front display did not contain any cutout.
The new models for 2021, the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro, come with a front camera that is placed in a space in the display. In addition, it has compact dimensions with a diameter of only 2,76 millimeters.
A small shot in the middle of the upper part of the screen does not disturb the view of the screen too much. On the other hand, it significantly distinguishes the previous and current design of Redmi K-series smartphones.
Change of design and approach from Redmi
As Lu Weibing, CEO of Redmi, explained, mechanical slide-out camera modules take up too much space inside the device. This prevents the introduction of certain other technologies and therefore the manufacturer has stopped using this type of camera.
According to the CEO of Redmi, these modules make the slim and light design of the smartphone difficult. This design has been achieved in the new Redmi smartphones thanks to an integrated camera with screen space.
In short, it seems that the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi said goodbye to the mechanism of the front camera slide-out module. The manufacturer focuses more on improving the weight and dimensions of its smartphones until the front cameras integrated under the screen are commercially available.
