Xiaomi had its Chinese conference today, where it also introduced the Xiaomi 12S series. Now we look at the base model and its improvements, mainly related to performance and photography in cooperation with Leica.
In terms of design, almost nothing has changed. Again, it is a relatively compact smartphone with dimensions 152,7 x 69,9 x 8,16 mm. There is durable glass in the front and back Corning Gorilla Glass Foods and the surrounding frame is made of aluminum.
Same display, better performance
The display has a diagonal 6,28-inch and it is a type viewer AMOLED with a 120-hertz refresh rate. There is no lack of maximum brightness 1 rivets with 12-bit colors. There is also a fingerprint reader in the display. The selfie camera is located in a small opening. Its resolution is 32 Mpx.
The processor used was also improved. The Xiaomi 12S series models are the first smartphones with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. It supports 5G networks and has minimal seconds 8 GB RAM type LPDDR5 and 128-gigabyte UFS 3.1 storage.
Leica has the main role
If we look at the cameras, the individual resolutions have not changed. We still find the main one here 50-megapixel Sony IMX707 sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5-megapixel macro.
What is new is the collaboration with the Leica company, whose logo is also on the camera module. Leica takes care of the image tuning of the photos, and there will also be special camera modes on offer.
A well-known company will once again provide quality stereo speakers Harman / Kardon. In addition, we can find Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and an infrared sensor. The Xiaomi 12S smartphone runs on an operating system Android 12 together with the superstructure MIUI 13.
The battery itself still has the same ones 4 mAh, but thanks to a more economical processor, the smartphone should last a little longer. You charge the battery with maximum power 67 W. It works wirelessly at 50 W and there is also 10-watt reverse charging.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi 12S only comes to the Chinese market so far, and the global version has not been announced. Prices for the Chinese market are as follows:
