Roborock, a partner of Xiaomi, presented a new model of robotic vacuum cleaner at this year's CES 2021 conference, Roborock S7. It comes with some interesting improvements over the older version.
Sonic mopping
The most interesting improvement of the Roborock S7 robotic vacuum cleaner is sonic moping. You will definitely recognize sonic toothbrushes that clean teeth due to the rapid oscillation of their bristles.
This robotic vacuum cleaner comes with a similar system. His mop can oscillate to the sides 3000 times per minute at a frequency of 50 Hz.
Conventional robotic vacuum cleaners only wipe the floor with a wet cloth on the underside of the mop and thus cannot remove the dried dirt on the floor. When you wash the floor by hand, you make several different movements, which try to mimic the Roborock S7. Thanks to these oscillating movements, it removes more dirt than its predecessor.
Another great feature is the possibility lifting the mop by 5 mm. If you have ever used a robotic vacuum cleaner for moping and vacuuming at the same time and you have carpets at home, you will know the problem when the vacuum cleaner tries to cross the carpets during moping.
He had to remove the carpets or create forbidden zones to avoid the vacuum cleaner. But the Roborock S7 can lift its mop and go over the carpet.
Additional features and enhancements
Thanks to its sensors, the Roborock S7 can detect carpets and adjust the vacuuming accordingly. There is no lack of room recognition or zone vacuuming. Suction power represents 2500 Pa, the dust container has 470 ml and a water container 300 ml.
The vacuum cleaner also received an improved rotating brush, which does not contain any bristles. The whole is rubber and can be adjusted in height to the surface, which should guarantee more efficient vacuuming and longer life. The vacuum cleaner battery has a capacity 5200 mAh and should be sufficient for up to 3 hours of vacuuming.
There is a quality, washable filter, an adaptive algorithm for navigating the rooms or a child lock. Unlike the S6 MaxV model, there are no cameras here, the vacuum cleaner is oriented using LiDAR sensors.
Roborock is developing a docking station in which the vacuum cleaner can empty itself, which would greatly facilitate its maintenance. This docking station should be introduced later this year.
Price and availability
Roborock S7 will be available in two colors, black and white for the price 535€ ($ 649). It will go on sale in America on March 24. The availability date for Europe is not yet known.
