Today is a big day for the Redmi brand. At the end of the summer, they prepared some significant news for us, which they had just presented at an official conference in China. We start with the Redmi Note 8 smartphone, a new generation of the popular affordable model from Redmi, which comes just 8 months after the Redmi Note 7.
The new model brings higher performance, even better cameras, a more beautiful design and still a very good price. These are the detailed parameters and features of the fresh news Redmi Note 8.
Even narrower frames, beautiful design
Cheap smartphones from Xiaomi are no longer just cheap smartphones. The manufacturer also pays attention to the design, which was successful again in the case of the Redmi Note 8 model. At the back and front we find glass, which we are used to mostly in flagships. Once again, we can expect the "feeling" of flagships.
The smartphone was introduced in three colors back, including the impressive gradient blue Dream Blue, white and black. The dimensions of the construction are 158,3 x 75,3 x 8,35 mm, weight 190 grams.
He occupied the front 6,39 ″ displaywhich has even narrower frames as well as a lower chin and covers up 90% of the front surface. The display has an aspect ratio of 19,5: 9, 2340 x 1080 px resolution (FullHD +) and is certified TUV Rheinland, which ensures reduced harmfulness of blue light radiation. The user's eyes are thus more protected.
Increased durability is not easy to see in cheap smartphones
Already with Note 7, the increased durability of the construction was presented, which the manufacturer applied in the case of the new generation of smartphone. The front and back are covered with Gorilla Glass 5, while a special layer was applied to repel splashing water. However, it is not a full-fledged water resistance.
Xiaomi also applied extreme tests to Note 8, such as the pressure test. A 100 kg weightlifter with 90 kg of dumbbells stood on the smartphone, which he survived without damage. Another test showed that the phone can survive a fall from a height of 1,5 m. Of course, be sure not to try these tests at home. 🙂
Quad 48 MPx camera
One of the biggest attractions of the new Redmi Note 8 is supposed to be the camera. In recent years, Xiaomi has invested heavily in camera development, which is largely reflected in the quality of the resulting photos.
After a relatively high-quality dual 48 MPx camera in the Note 7, the manufacturer comes up with even greater improvements. Note 8 on the back contains up to four sensors, arranged at the top:
- 8 MPx ultra-wide angle sensor, angle of view 120 °, pixel size 1.12 μm
- Primary 48 MPx sensor with 1/2 ″ size, f / 1.79 aperture, 1.6 μm pixel size, 4-in-1 technology

Snapdragon 665 and good old 4000 mAh battery
Like the recently introduced Xiaomi Mi A3, the new Note 8 is equipped with an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor. The chipset is made 11 nm manufacturing process, contains artificial intelligence and Adreno 610 graphics chip.
Compared to Snapdragon 660 in Note 7, this is not a significant shift in performance, but the updated processor will definitely please.
In terms of endurance, not much will change, which is good. Redmi Note 8 comes with the same 4000 mAh batterywhich supports fast 18 W charging. In this price category of smartphones, only 10 W charging is common, so Xiaomi has a lesser competitive advantage.
IR, 3,5 mm audio jack and even better speakers
