One of the major suppliers of intelligent LED lighting is the brand Yeelight, which has long belonged to the Xiaomi ecosystem.
As their lights are very popular with our readers, we decided to order and test their latest model with a diameter of 470 mm - a model Yeelight Guangcan YLXD50YL.

Ceiling LED smart light Yeelight YLXD50YL arrived in classic industrial packaging. We didn't expect anything else with this type of product.
The large, but relatively light cardboard box contained the light body itself, consisting of two parts, a paper manual in Chinese and 3 screws with dowels.
The individual parts of the light - the main part and the cover - were packed separately in plastic bags and firmly stored in the notches of the polystyrene profiles.
Light construction
As already mentioned, the ceiling lamp in the disassembled state consists of two parts. First of all, it is the outer part, ie the light cover. This part is more or less perceived by the user after complete assembly. It consists of light plastic, white opaque color, which is complemented by a gold band around its perimeter.
The second part, which is hidden, is made of metal and is treated with white varnish. It includes a complete electrical installation, three screw holes, one for inserting an electrical cable, and three plastic brackets that serve as cover holders.
The electrical installation of the light consists of a control unit, which is in one housing together with the mains adapter and LEDs.
These are a non-escape and the manufacturer gives up 160 high quality RGB LEDs diodes. The LEDs are arranged in three circuits. The outer circuit consists of 54 diodes. It is followed by a circuit of LED strips, there are a total of 12 of them and the inner circuit has another 27 LEDs.
After installation, the user only perceives the light cover from which the main lighting comes. Yeelight YLXD50YL however, it also has a backlight functionwhich form additional LEDs, this time colored. However, these are hidden under the cover and cannot be seen.
Installation and connection of light is very simple
Installation of light is very simple and can be done by an average skilled person. Just mark and drill the holes in the ceiling and screw the light through the predetermined holes.
The electrical cable is connected via a terminal block, where the wire layout is indicated.
After successful installation, all you have to do is attach the outer cover and turn it to hold it under the brackets. Some users also use the Yeelight smart switch with the light.
However, we only used a classic light switch in the home electrical installation and a smartphone to turn the light on and off.

Connecting to a smartphone
We have to admit that the light bothered us a bit after connecting to the electrical wiring. We had repeated problems connecting the light to the smartphone and the reactions were very slow. The light was often turned off and using its smart features was almost impossible.
We later found out that the problem was in our router. So far, we haven't identified what specifically caused the broken connection. After replacing the router, everything worked properly, quickly and without the slightest problems.
We have encountered similar problems in different discussions with different users. From our experience, we can write that light does not work with some brands of routers. In our country, it was like an unsuitable Huawei brand router, on the contrary, the smooth operation was in cooperation with the D-link brand router.
The first impression after lighting burned us down, especially bright light intensity. We were a little worried about the level of light flux 3 lumens, because lights with a much higher luminous flux are available on the market, but the reality pleasantly surprised us.
In a 4 x 4 m room, light can literally conjure up even in the middle of the night white day feeling.
After the initial worries and a pleasant surprise from the strong lighting, we started pairing with a smartphone. We used the manufacturer's application for this Yeelightwhich you will find in Play Store.
Although it does not have a high user rating, it did not disappoint us. The environment is fast, clear and the application offers many personalization options and various settings.
Connection procedure
We logged in to the application with our Mi Account and then the light connection itself took place according to the instructions in the application. As the lamp is currently only available in the Chinese version, it is necessary to select it as the primary region for the Mainland China server in the application.
The light connects to your home WiFi network and is also connected to the Internet, which allows control from anywhere in the world.
Use and smart features
Controlling the light through the application is intuitive and very simple.
The main light has in the application default eight different scenes and for each of them it is possible to change the light intensity with the slider. You can easily choose the scene of sunrise or sunset, reading mode, night mode and a mode suitable for watching movies and more.
In addition, the user has day mode and night light mode. In daylight mode, it is possible to change the color temperature in addition to the intensity. In night mode, only the intensity can be adjusted.
The next menu will appear after clicking on the arrow in the lower right corner of the application. In it you can save the current settings for favorite scenes, select the desired lighting temperature, create a lighting plan and much more.
We were interested in the possibility of pairing the bracelet We Band. After using it, the light will be instructed to turn off as soon as the bracelet detects the user's sleep. When you wake up, the light turns on.
Ambient backlight light also has many customization options. In addition to shades of white at different temperatures and intensities, it is also possible to set different colors of light, even in extremely shades of color.
By combining the settings of the headlight and backlight, very interesting lighting effects can be achieved. The combination of the main light in night mode or in moon mode with color backlighting in blue, but also other shades works exceptionally well.
A quick menu of settings can also be found when controlling the backlight. It allows you to quickly set five basic colors, and in addition, there are the same options as when controlling the headlight.
From the intelligent functions of the Yeelight light, we will highlight the possibilities of timing the change of lighting, or creating a plan for automatic switching on and off.
It is also interesting to be able to control the light remotely from anywhere in the world where the Internet is available, as well as automatic switching off or on when prompted by the Mi Band bracelet.
Final evaluation
As we mentioned during our review, the Yeelight app and light offer almost unlimited customization and settings.
During our testing, the light did not hesitate and, except for the initial problems in synchronizing with the smartphone, it functioned like a watch. Overall, we rate the Yeelight YLXD50YL light as excellent and well made.
The light intensity is completely sufficient for a room with an area of 16 m². According to the manufacturer, the ideal use is for rooms with an area of 20 to 25 m² and in our experience this information does not deceive.
