It seems that we will not get rid of the chip crisis so soon, and the processor manufacturer Qualcomm is having problems again. Their new chip is being postponed, and it will affect many manufacturers.
The chip crisis continues
At first, the resumption of production of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor was delayed, and now the manufacturer is also reporting problems with a processor that has not yet been introduced. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, which was to be introduced so that it would already appear in flagships in the second half of the year.
It may be a coronavirus pandemic that is under control in various parts of the world, but China is experiencing another wave and the government has ordered the closure of various sites, which has caused production delays in many factories.
And Xiaomi, which is always one of the first companies to always use the latest Qualcomm processors in its flagships, will pay for this.
Maybe that's why the upcoming model xiaomi 12s pro the company preferred to deploy a processor from MediaTek because it does not suffer from such supply issues.
We are also wondering whether this decision is a one-off due to the current shortage of chips or whether Xiaomi will become a regular customer of the most powerful MediaTek processors.
And what about Xiaomi 12 Ultra?
The biggest stumbling block could be a long-prepared smartphone Xiaomi 12Ultra, which was supposed to have a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor. And since it is not currently clear when Qualcomm will return to normal production capacity, the fate of this model is still unknown.
Xiaomi will either wait for this processor to become available and then release this model, or deploy a slightly older Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor so that this smartphone can be introduced as soon as possible.
