Do you care about your TV? Just buying it is not enough. The screen is constantly exposed external influence, dust or children's fingerprints. How to clean it properly? There are several proven ways, but in this article we will talk about the exact opposite. These are the things and ways with which you should definitely not clean your smart TV.
How to properly clean your TV screen?
Knowing how to properly clean the TV is very important. Not only will it keep it in good condition, it will also have a positive effect on its overall lifespan. What is clean simply lasts longer. Televisions are no exception. The easiest way is to use a cloth (ideally made of microfiber), which effectively removes dust and fingerprints.
The best-selling microfiber towel
Plain water will also work well for larger grease or dirt. Of course, there are also professional solutions, but they will now go by the wayside. Many people tend to use these methods, which we will describe below, and it is not correct. If you know of someone who cleans their TV this way, you should warn them that it can damage it.
Ethanol is not good. No way
Ethyl alcohol, that is, ordinary alcohol, is very effective in removing dirt, but it is generally not recommended for cleaning televisions or displays. It can destroy the oleophobic layer on smartphones very quickly, generally accelerates the corrosion of materials. And that doesn't benefit your TV either.
Do not apply liquid directly to the screen
If you already have a proper product for cleaning the screen, one that does not contain alcohol, definitely do not apply it directly to it. It is best to use a cloth, apply the product to it first and then start cleaning the screen. The liquid could cause considerable problems if it accidentally enters the inside of the TV or some gap.
Do not use chemicals
The same applies here as in the case of alcohol. Chemicals can permanently damage the screen. It is also not recommended to use a glass cleaner. Although it is effective for cleaning windows, the screen is made of special glass, which is nowhere near comparable to that which is inserted into windows.
Avoid kitchen paper
A simple wipe with kitchen paper may seem like a good way to keep your TV clean at first. Well, that's not quite the case. This paper serves completely different purposes and its texture tends to be coarser.
If handled incorrectly, there is a possibility of damaging or scratching the screen. And you certainly don't want that. In addition, pieces of paper can remain on the screen, its removal is quite unpleasant.
No, toilet paper is not good either
Although toilet paper has a slightly different texture and its advantage may be that small particles do not fall out of it, we recommend using it for cleaning windows rather than for the TV. But if you don't have anything better to hand, your smart TV should survive without a careful cleaning with toilet paper.
The TV is switched off
This probably doesn't even need further comment. Dirt or imperfections are hard to find on the switched-on screen, but this is not the only reason to clean the TV when it is switched off. In this way, you will also avoid possible problems related to electrostatics.
You never know when a little spark might fly. As with any electronic device, the TV should be switched off during maintenance.
The key is proper wiping
Classic wiping in all directions is definitely not the way to go. It is best to clean the screen from one side to the other either horizontally or vertically. Don't forget to make sure you've covered the entire area. In this way, you can effectively avoid possible streaks, which certainly do not look attractive.
