One day after the show Xiaomi Mi 10 a We 10 Pro we can already say with certainty that both smartphones are equipped with a top display. Its manufacturer is a Chinese company Huaxing Optoelectronics and large sums of money were spent on its development.
Support for local component manufacturers pays off
It is no secret that leading Chinese mobile phone manufacturers are trying to exploit the potential of local component manufacturers. Xiaomi is following this example and is investing heavily in supporting local brands.
Now the harvest is in the form of a top AMOLED panel, with which the company could equip its two flagships Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed that the curved AMOLED displays are in fact made by a local manufacturer Huaxing Optoelectronics. The brand is a subsidiary of the group TCL. The company's manager revealed that they had spent huge sums of money on display research and development to meet the requirements.
It belongs to the top
The new super AMOLED panel, which is installed in the Mi 10, has a diagonal 6,7 inch with resolution 2340 x 1080 and aspect ratio 19,5:9. It is the first Chinese curved screen of the AMOLED type with perforation - ie a hole for placing the front camera. It has an average only 2,6 mm which is less than, for example, the competing Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10.
The display is made using a technology called DOT (Direct On-cell Touch), which has a touch sensor built into a thin-film display encapsulation. Other manufacturing technologies place the touch film on the panel. The advantage of DOT technology is a thinner display and reduced production costs.
Apple's new smartphones this year are expected to use similar display technology.
High values of almost all parameters
Another great feature of this AMOLED panel is the technology TCL Pearl Arrangement (pearl arrangement) for pixels. The screen brightness is 800 nits (HBM) and 500 nits (type) at a ratio of more than 1100 rivets for both versions of the smartphone.
In addition, the screen has a color gamut 3% DCI-P100 and contrast ratio 5: 000.
The panel manufacturer also had to deal with the perfect smoothness of the display. He succeeded in achieving a refresh rate 90 Hz and sampling frequency 180 Hz. In addition, we will mention support DC Dimming a HDR10 +.
Thanks to its features, this innovative AMOLED panel has been certified TUV Rheinland, which means low blue light emission and almost no flickering.
And last but not least, we can't help but mention the very thin frames in which the display was successfully fitted. The lower part of the frame, the so-called chin, is only thick 3,32 mm, which is a nice drop compared to the Mi 9 model with a thickness of 3,9 mm. The other parts of the frame have a thickness only 1,8 mm.
According to the specifications, the display in the Mi 10 series is a real gem and we are already looking forward to the day when we will be able to watch it live.
