You have probably noticed that most of the new smartphones from the Chinese company Xiaomi come with a battery greater than or equal to 4000 mAh. A kind of imaginary standard with regard to battery capacity was now also tried to be defined by the CEO of the brand Redmi, Lu Weibing.

These are not only flagship models, but also more affordable smartphones. The latest officially introduced devices like Xiaomi Mi 10, Xiaomi Mi Note 10, Redmi K30 Pro or Redmi Note 9S exceed the mentioned limit and will offer a capacity greater than or equal to a value of up to 4500 mAh.
Lu Weibing: Two reasons for increased consumption
- Power consumption of the latest Qualcomm processors (8th series) increases consumption by approximately 20% compared to the previous 7th series.
- The use of 5G technology leads to a significant increase in energy consumption, compared to other 4G smartphones, it is up to 20% extra energy.
According to Lu Weibing, CEO of the brand Redmi, a current mobile device with a 5G processor of the latest generation and a 4000 mAh battery would get about the same endurance as a 4G device with a 3200 mAh battery.
Lu Weibing further says that the minimum battery that should get into the new 5G smartphones is about 4500 mAh.
A really good value is the capacity at 4 mAh offered by the new device Redmi K30 Pro, but also Xiaomi Mi 10.
When it comes to device sales, we should not see more smartphones without a 5G connection, at least as far as the domestic, ie Chinese, market is concerned.
This means that upcoming smartphones should come with a 4500 mAh battery or larger.
